Are you an African-American Parent who is Raising a Child with Autism?
Are you an African-American Parent who is Raising a Child with Autism?
If so, you are cordially invited to participate in a research study being conducted by a nursing student in
De Paul University’s Master’s Entry Nursing Program.
Title of Research Study: The Effects of Perceived Parental Stress Levels on Coping Strategies Utilized by African-American Parents who are raising a Child with Autism
Purpose: The purpose of this research study is to help nurses, educators, and other healthcare providers gain insight about stressors that are encountered by African-American parents who are raising a child with autism, and the coping strategies that they utilize in response to this stress. This information would help set the foundation for the development of interventions and support programs that are geared towards helping African-American parents to utilize positive coping strategies to deal with increased levels of stress. The use of positive coping strategies in parents who are raising a child with autism has been found to promote better health and well-being in both parents and their children.
Requirements: Participation in this research study will take approximately 30 minutes. Parents will fill out three questionnaires that are anonymous, and confidential.
If you are interested in hearing more about this study, please contact:
