We're back!
Hello Everyone!
You may have noticed that our Digests were not coming very frequently or not in the normal format. I'm thrilled to say we finally have our server issues fixed and the Digest is back up and running once more!
That said, there are lots of updates here, and a ton more to come. Budget concerns still exists at the District, including 5 cuts to school Psychologists and cuts to individuals to staff that work in communication to parents. Yet, EMO's were retained and the SRC still attempts to address the concerns of families and the community. So, expect more to come.
At the State level, we bid goodbye to Ann Kernan -- head of the State Task Force and an amazing and vibrant woman who will be sorely missed along with her long-time secretary Diane Mcburney.
And, Chpt 14 drafts are out and awaiting your public commentary - - you can bet the TAsk Force will have some comments as well.
So, until ESY -- I hope everyone enjoyed the Holiday!

The following alert is from the Mental Health Assn. in PA:
ACTION ALERT – RESTORE TOTAL FUNDING for CHIPPs INTIATIVE
The Pennsylvania Senate cut $12.39 million from Mental Health Services appropriation before sending the budget bill back to the House. That $12.39 million cut includes:
§ $9.45 million to reflect a reduction from 200 to 100 placements in Community and Hospital Integration Program Project (CHIPPs) funding
§ Funding for state hospital complement (payroll).
We need to advocate with House Members (particularly leadership) and the Governor to restore the full CHIPPs funding in the final budget. Please contact the Governor, PA House Leadership (see list below), and your own representative and urge them to restore the $9.45 million to the final budget. It is critical that they receive hundreds of phone calls, emails and letters telling them that this reduction cannot stand.
