On-Going GOALS

 

Systemic Advocacy

Ø       Examine and make recommendation on the implementation of Free and Appropriate Education in the Least
Restrictive Environment through the Gaskin's requirements & Advisory Panel, the Alliance for Inclusive Education
and the Office of Specialized Services.

Ø       Obtain and discuss compliance status reports from the State with our school district and monitor the District
via data analysis.        

Ø       Obtain and discuss compliance status reports from the State with our school district and hold a Compliance Update   session & Sate of the district report.

Ø       Report concerns & requests at State Task Force meetings

Ø       Continue active involvement in District budget issues         

Ø       Attend City Council hearing on District Budget

Ø     Continue to request more funding for the Philadelphia School District at local and state levels.

Ø    Support and assist the Office of Specialized Services in their development of a revised autistic support program.

Ø     Influence choice of permanent CEO for the District and Develop a Working Relationship with that individual.

Ø     Examine drop out rate for children with disabilities

Ø    Examine issues involving Extended School Year Services

Ø    Investigate means to enhance and avail high school Transition options city-wide

 

Training and Technical Assistance

Ø       Contribute to professional development offerings and parent involvement

         and parent involvement

Ø       Assist in improving the quality, convenience and appeal of training content and mediums

Ø       Compile a list of local individual advocates and support efforts to increase this service

     

 

Outreach, Awareness, and Information

Ø       Attend Home& School Council and SRC( School reform Commission) meetings

Ø       Successful outreach at the school level

Ø       Get on the agenda of the Special Education Liaison and Principal's meetings         

Ø       Continue to recognize a teacher of MR and of AS for their excellence during Mental Retardation
Awareness month and Autism Awareness month

Ø    Continue to Hold an Annual Autism Awareness Night for the Phillies <Ø      

Ø     Recognize students, teachers, administrators and parents at our Annual Beacon of Light Award Ceremony

 

Local Task Force Development

Ø       Continue to be a presence at the annual State Task Force and the PDE conference 

Ø       Continue to Review and contribute to the Special Education Plan & Budget

Ø       Provide development training to better utilize the time and ability of our members

Ø       Hold a visitation training on the model that the state created
